Small Business Feature: Empyrean Collegiate Consulting
This is the first of three small local businesses that we will be featuring this summer!
What is Empyrean Collegiate Consulting? Who are your clients?
Empyrean Collegiate Consulting is dedicated to helping high school, transfer, and graduate students find the best college that suits all their wants and needs. So often, students do not know what colleges are out there for their particular want. We provide the help of finding schools that will be the perfect fit for them. Other services include help with the application process, essay writing help, finding scholarships, internships, and possible major-related jobs. Target clients are those that need the extra push to learn what is out there so they can gain the best education and have the most memorable time in college.
How did Empyrean come to exist? Who are the founders and what are their qualifications?
Empyrean Collegiate Consulting was founded with the idea in mind that students need all the help they can get when it comes to the college process. Both Kat [Clowes] and I [Abby Friedman] had horrible experiences trying to find the right colleges for us, so with that in mind, Empyrean was born. Kat and I started the business in May of 2010. We have obtained Independent Educational Consulting certificates from UC, Irvine and are currently working to gain membership into the national IEC business.
How is Empyrean different from the Counseling services our local High Schools provide?
So often high school counselors do not have the time to spend with every individual student and help them choose the right college for them. They are mostly concerned with gaining the correct classes to graduate. ECC offers over 20 hours of individual work with every client.
What happens at an initial consultation? How can I get started?
During an initial consultation, we sit down with both the parents and the student to see what qualities both parties are looking for in a college. We then discuss strengths and weaknesses of the student and what they might be interested in studying while in college. By discussing true traits and qualities in a specific college, we gain a better understanding of what students want for the next four+ years of their lives.
How can I find out more information?
By visiting our website, www.empyreancc.com, or calling us at 661.204.9125 we can schedule an initial appointment and see where your future lies.
